Is “Playing God” the answer?

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.”
Romans 12:18-19 NIV

The context of that verse is we ought to ‘not conform to the ways of this world but instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds.’ What is a simple way to renew our mind? How we give up getting even.

If we have faith in God, we do not seek to get even. Getting even is simply not possible and it doesn’t seem to give room for God’s wrath. That’s right, we can let God be the one avenging but if we take matters into our own hands we seem to ‘play God’.

Getting even is too much of a burden to carry. It’s a fantasy, a mirage. However God wants us to leave that part up to Him. He knows the truth and he promises to make things right. Let us choose peace of mind and let God handle and set the score. He promises us that He will.
